For nearly a decade, three generations of our family — my grandfather, my father, and now me — have worked together in a remote sugar shack, tucked deep in the bush and only reachable by snowmobile or ATV.

First tapped in 1877, the sugar bush has ties to "The Old Mission" and its hermit past. As one of Canada’s northernmost, it remains a hub for crafting maple syrup with traditional wood-fired methods.
